Why I Support The Street Dog Coalition…

Over the years I've spent working in animal welfare, one truth has remained constant: pets are family. That's true whether you live in a house with a fenced yard, in a car, a shelter, or on the street.

I've seen firsthand how a dog or cat can be someone's closest companion, their source of comfort, their protector, and sometimes their reason to keep going. I've also seen how the fear of losing that bond can keep people from accepting help.

Too often, shelters and housing programs can't accommodate pets, leaving people with an impossible choice: separate from the animal they love or remain unhoused together.

The Street Dog Coalition responds to this reality, and meets pets and people where they are.

Their work begins with compassion. They lead with unconditional love: care and kindness offered without judgement, without conditions. They practice trust, building real, judgement-free connections with both the pet and the person on both ends of the leash.

Free veterinary care isn't just about a healthy pet. It's about removing one more barrier between a person and a safe place to live. When The Street Dog Coalition provides preventative care, updates vaccinations, or provides spay/neuter vouchers, they're helping keep a family together, and helping someone take a step toward stability that they might not otherwise take.

If you believe, as I do, that no one should have to choose between their safety and their family, I hope you'll consider standing with The Street Dog Coalition and supporting this essential work.
