“…with Street Dog, there is a clear mission and objective and everyone knows what they have to do. You realize that being a part of a team that is working in unison is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have as a human.” - Volunteer Team Lead, Pittsburgh PA
About Katrina:
While getting her masters from the LEAP Institute at Colorado State University in 2018, Katrina started volunteering with The Street Dog Coalition and quickly became invested in its mission and vision. She has put her 15+ years of nonprofit experience to work building SDC’s organizational infrastructure and has enjoyed helping SDC grow into a national nonprofit with volunteers in cities from coast to coast.
In addition to SDC’s core values(unconditional love, unbridled collaboration, compassionate activism, and trust), Katrina identifies with servant leadership and family-style dining. Her favorite book is “Dog Songs” by Mary Oliver and her hobbies include rowing and watching women’s sports. She and her wife share a love for travel, spicy food, the great outdoors, and their two dogs—Ferdinand and Hammie, aka FerdnHam.

Hear from Katrina
My favorite poet is the late Mary Oliver. Her book, "Dog Songs", is a beautiful tribute to the human-animal bond. Just as her dogs inspired her work, my dogs (Ferdinand and Hammie, aka FerdnHam) inspire mine.
Ferdinand (right) is the primary reason I started volunteering with The Street Dog Coalition in 2018, and Hammie (left) joined our family in 2022. Both of them remain a constant source of unconditional love--something everyone is deserving of, regardless of their financial situation.
Over the years, I have witnessed countless acts of kindness and those simple acts have ripple effects. I'm humbled by the ripples The Street Dog Coalition has made and the community we’ve built in support of both ends of the leash. If you're reading this, you are likely a part of this community.
Thank you for your support!
