Oklahoma City/Edmond, OK

The OKC Street Dog Coalition team partners regularly with the Homeless Alliance – an OKC nonprofit that seeks to rally the community to end homelessness. The OKC SDC team provides veterinary care specifically to the pets of the Homeless Alliance’s unhoused clients as part of the wide array of services offered at their two shelters. Guests can access things like legal assistance, help with food stamps, mental health support, mail services, advocacy, and more.

OKC SDC visits the Homeless Alliance campus monthly and provides vaccinations, wellness and sick-pet exams, monthly parasite preventatives, and other services as needed. With volunteers from the Homeless Alliance, Oklahoma-based Merck Animal Health representatives, and other members of the veterinary community,  we are proud to offer these services to our neighbors and their beloved pets.

I am a registered veterinary technician in Edmond, Oklahoma. I was volunteering with the homeless in Oklahoma City when I first became involved with The Street Dog Coalition. It’s amazing to see how much this organization has done to help the population and I’m proud to be able to be involved. I know my pets mean the world to me - and I’m humbled to see the loving bond between pets and owners at each monthly clinic.

Biography coming soon!

I am a small animal practitioner, graduated from Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. Private practice, business owner. I became interested in working with The Street Dog Coalition after seeing a story in JAVMA after the AVMA convention. We've been fortunate to help our local homeless shelter pets and have found this to be very rewarding. Much more we could be doing, I'm sure, and perhaps will after retiring in the next few years.

Thank You:

The Oklahoma Medical Reserve Corps (OKMRC) brings together practicing and retired healthcare professionals from a diversity of fields, including physicians, nurses, hospital and public health workers, mental health experts, and other medical professions. In addition, volunteers without a background in medical training are needed. The OKMRC responds to emergencies to supplement “first responder” emergency systems. In March 2025, Julia from the OKMRC distributed pet emergency preparedness backpacks to all clients and pets at the OKC clinic. Thank you, thank you for the wonderful gift!!
